Star Wars LEGO Sets and Thomas the Tank Engine

Star Wars LEGO Sets and Thomas the Tank Engine Top eBay’s 2005 Hot New Toys List

‘Toy Finder’ Helping eBay Shoppers Easily Find and Purchase This Year’s Hot and Award-Winning Toys

NOVEMBER 3, 2005 – SAN JOSE, Calif. – eBay today unveiled this holiday’s Top 10 must-have new toys, as well as eBay Toy Finder, a free new feature that helps shoppers find the right toy for kids of any age.

eBay Toy Finder offers recommendations of more than 300 “hot” and award-winning toys, along with full-page descriptions and photos that link directly to those items listed on eBay. Shoppers can then choose from new and used toys and purchase them immediately through Buy It Now or by bidding in the auction format.

Covering nine age ranges and 16 product categories, eBay Toy Finder also includes products evaluated and recognized by nationally-renowned author Marianne Szymanski of Toy Tips, an independent research group that tests toys and children’s products.

“Too often, it becomes very easy to get caught up in the holiday clutter and the must-have toy hype of the season,” said Szymanski. “eBay Toy Finder can easily guide you to the most age and developmentally appropriate toys, whether new this year or a classic. I advise parents to be their own child’s toy expert, and online features like eBay Toy Finder can help guide them in the research and buying process.”

eBay 2005 Hot New Toys List“eBay is often cited as a barometer of the most popular toys during the holiday season, and eBay Toy Finder now makes it easy for anyone to pick from thousands of choices,” said Jim Migdal, senior category manager for eBay Toys & Hobbies. “This list recognizes those toys we anticipate to be top sellers this holiday season, based on recent sales trends on eBay, numbers of searches and listings, and general buzz in the industry.”

The list includes:
1. Star Wars Millenium Falcon LEGO Set
2. Thomas the Tank Engine Aquarium Set
3. American Girl Dolls
4. Roboraptor
5. Harry Potter Scene It? Game
6. Bob Mackie Holiday Barbie
7. The Fly Pentop Computer
8. Leapfrog L-Max Learning Game System
9. Master Replicas Star Wars FX Lightsabers
10. Star Wars Clone Trooper Action Figure

“With the final release in the Star Wars series, Star Wars licensed merchandise has been an overwhelming success across the product spectrum both in retail and on eBay,” said Migdal. “Thomas the Tank Engine, in all its variations, is a perennial kids favorite that can provide years of creative play.

“Learning toys have also come on very strong as parents continue to seek those toys that help further child development. Two standouts from Leapfrog are the L-Max Learning Game System and the FLY Pentop Computer. Mattel’s Scene It? has been very popular and is expected to get even more so with the release of the latest Harry Potter movie this month.”

In Response to Jay's Goals...

Great post by jay - "what good are goals if they aren't written down". Should I answer the post?

After much taunting and pride - apparently a 6:00minute 400 free was harder than you thought. And I could seriously crawl a 35minute 5K. Good work.

for the record...

what good are goals if they aren't written down?

Anyway, for this training tri...
400m swim--under 6 min without breathing hard
17mi bike & 5k run--just don't stop

a <30min 5k would be nice though

last few workouts

Thursday morning:
Biked 20 min (cut short with bike issues)
Ran 15 min (ouch)
-Greenbelt park is to hilly, must find new place
-My tri bike is fairly new, took it in for a tune up b/c of cable stretch & tghten limit screw

Thursday afternoon:
I definitely did something but I don't remember. I'm pretty sure I ran for a while.

Friday morning:
9oo swim
6x100's 1:30 interval
1500 total
lifted-- legs, abs, some shoulders

Friday afternoon speedwork:
Ran 20 min warmup
4x 45 sec all out, 2min easy--tried not to stop but I don't know whats harder, the anaerobic part or the "easy" part

Saturday morning I'll do a long easy run
Sunday I will get my ass kicked

Workout Update... its Sad

Wednesday night: Softball practice and basketball pick-up league where I very nearly got in a fist fight on the first play. Angry because I brushed against him (apparently a foul) - this guy Mike decided to retaliate and club my face with his elbow - claiming he was trying to steal the ball.

Thursday night: 49-34 basketball league win, moving us to 3-1.

Friday: Swim practice in the morning (2000 meters, got killed in practice - touch and go 45seconds LC meters as everyone laughed). Then I biked into work - while biking, a mother and her young child jumped out of nowhere and stood right in front of me like a deer in headlights. instead of killing the two of them - and I had no idea what to do - I braked completely, couldnt get out of my clips, and fell completely to the ground. Awesome. Good thing it was at a busy intersection - at least that boosts my confidence.

Apparently Jay is doing his first tri on saturday - good luck.

Seriously distrubing stuff...

Most from SorryIGotDrunk.com:

Not a dead horse... but Hilary Duff

Not a Mark McGwire on Roids... but Carrot Top

Not a Power Ranger... but a Murderer... Oh wait, the same thing

From Defamer.com: A former child actor and his wife were ordered to stand trial Tuesday for the murder of a wealthy California couple who, prosecutors say, were tied to the anchor of their yacht and thrown overboard alive, never to be seen again.

Orange County Superior Court Judge John Conley ordered 26-year-old Skylar Deleon, who once starred in the “Power Rangers” TV series, and his wife, 24-year-old Jennifer Henderson Deleon, to stand trial for the murders after a two-day preliminary hearing in Santa Ana, south of Los Angeles.

1 mile time trial

So I tried running a mile by itself on a flat, well-marked trail just to see how slow I really am.

My time: 8:14
My first 0.2 miles was 1:20, meaning I ran the other 0.8 miles in damn near 7 minutes!

I'm donig a practice sprint tri on sunday (400m, 17mi, 5k). If I run a 30 min 5k this weekend, that would just be pitiful. It might happen.

Anyway, this calls for much more running than swimming in the upcoming weeks. Maybe 3 or so long runs a week with some speedwork every now and then.

And I've never run a 10k before.

Pamela's Roast & Tom Cruise's Presence

If you haven't seen the Comedy Central Roast of Pamela Anderson, do yourself a favor and Tivo it - high comedy. Really funny stuff. Deserves save status on your Tivo. From MSN's the scoop (http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/8669416/) are a few of the highlights - which make more fun of Tom Cruise than Pam:

“One of the roasters, Greg Giraldo, said, ‘Pam, you being the star of a show about books and reading, is like Tom Cruise starring in a show about vaginas,’ ” according to a source.

“Another roaster Sarah Silverman, joked that she knew comedian Andy Dick was definitely straight because he just hit on [Cruise’s sweetie] Katie Holmes,” says another.

Are the organizers behind the event worried that the notoriously litigious Cruise will sue? “They were just jokes,” a Comedy Central spokeswoman tells The Scoop “Tom Cruise can take them however he wants to.”

spit for brains

Woke up this morning, set aside my towel and things for the workout--once I got to the pool I realized I forgot my water bottle, once I finished swimming I realized I forgot my towel. I was quite dehydrated yet ironically soaking wet by the time I got to the gym.

By the way---my typical pre-workout meal: 2 plums, 1 banana this morning. Another banana between swim and weights. Sometimes I'll have pb&j, or 3 bites of a good leftover.

Swimming:
2x600's...400 free, 200 not-free
4x300's...5 min intervals (~4:20 pace)
6x100's...3x1:45 (75 free, 25 fly), 3x1:30 free
intended to do 12 100's free but was I freaking tired
3000 total yds

Lifting: squats, leg extension, swiss ball crunches, med ball situps on incline

The great thing about swimming is that everyone else who uses Greenbelt pool is 1) white and 2) very old, so I never have to worry about anyone wanting to share a lane. Hell, if they're over 60 I don't even worry about them talking to me.

Cool and overcast today--I might run later if I'm feeling good.

Where is Brendan?!!!!

After a week of intense workouts, I thought I could do another tonight. In fact, I called Jay and told him my plan: 4 mile bike, 1 mile run. Three times through. What happened? I biked two miles and run 1.5. And felt like crap the whole way through. My legs are completely shot... Last week finally caught up with me and now I completely dead. Anyway, I have this to make me feel better:

1. Brendan has disappeared and his liver is still ailing from a summer of laziness and drinking...

2. Jay is working his ass off - but still running 10 minute miles. wow...

3. Tara Reid has "frankentummy" which makes me want to laugh and vomit at the same time. There have been pictures around the web for the last year of her awful plastic surgery - but this one takes the cake:

This one is from AwfulPlasticSurgery.com - which asks, Why does Tara Reid's Stomach Look melted?!

more like a cobblestone

Attempted a brick using the cardio equipment today....stationary bike to treadmill.

Spinned 30 min, went just over 10 miles, held rpm in the 80s-90s
Ran 10 min and STILL RUNNING 10 MIN MILES. And I cant even insert a pissed off smiley.

Did half-assed upper body lifting then went home and did what I did best....eat.

Just to get an impression of what I'm eating, the other day for breakfast I had 8 eggs (3 yokes), with a few strips of smoked salmon. I waited a while before the shake that time.

Swim tomorrow...

My weekend...

1. Swam for the first time in 3 months Friday morning and then went spinning friday night before 'partying' at Dave and Busters (what ever that means)

2. Went surfing and biking in Santa Cruz. Somehow, miraculously, I got Jarrod to go with me - seriously a miracle. We went biking and within 2 miles lost eachother. worked out fine though.

3. Saw "The Aristocrats" Saturday night... if you are tolerant of foul language, its pretty funny. My expectations were far too high - but fun nonethless.

4. Swam again Sunday morning - sucked again. Played in Team beRecruited.com's softball game and got our first win of the season: 6-4. It feels good to get that monkey off our back.

5. Russell and I decided to begin development of beRecruited.com Football and Basketball - coming soon and in time for the 2005-2006 season!

running w/no breaks

I was gonna run yesterday but I got around to it this morning instead...

ran 40 min, pathetically slow--10 min miles by my watch. Anyway, it was a simple 20 min out and back. I am in dire need of some cardio conditioning and a little speedwork.

Then I lifted as usual...the details are too long so here's the abridged version
Biceps, 6 sets curls
Triceps, 5 sets---kickbacks and universal machine extensions
Lats, 2 sets lat pulldowns, 3 sets chin-ups
Delts, 5 sets military press w dumbbells
Pecs, 3 sets incline bench
Traps- 3 sets standing bent over row

Being gentle on the shoulder and running out of time by the time I got to the pecs.

Then I ate.
A lot.

I'll probably go for a bike ride tomorrow. I'm definitely getting these for my bike before Treasure Island... https://www.deuce-usa.com/products.php

By the way, when I started 3 weeks ago I weighed 190 with a 36" waist and 18% bf.

Nike Free 5.0

So I bought a pair of the Nike Free 5.0 trainers for the tri-training and the run. They kick ass. Super light. Flexible. Really comfortable. I wore them during a 5K run last night, 100 squats and an upper body circuit on the cable cords. I unfortunately had to take them off for my 1500meter swim this morning - which I flopped and drowned through.

60 minutes of Spinning = 60 minutes of Hell

And now my legs hurt. Biked 3 days in a row and I still stink. I will be doing a tune-up sprint triathlon in mid September (400yd swim, 11mi bike, 3.1 mil run). In other news, unrelated to spinning:

According to Page Six, Matt LeBlanc confesses to the National Enquirer about extra-curricular activities... you be the judge of how smart 'Joey' looks:
LeBlanc tells the improbable tale of how he was mauled by the “sexually aggressive” stripper while partying at the nudie joint during a motorcycle trip with five buddies. “The stripper was all over me,” LeBlanc claims. “I was drinking, and she was crossing the line … She was in my face, pushing her breasts into me and grabbing my hands to go all over her body. She was telling me to caress her and in my head I’m thinking, ‘What’s going on?’ If I had been sober, perhaps I would have acted quicker, but I was pretty drunk … When I realized the situation that was unfolding I felt I was being careless and irresponsible, and I had to get the hell out of there … I could not wait to get home. The guys said a trap had been set for me and I fell right in it, and that’s why I feel stupid and careless now.”
