Sports Recap...

Curious how life changes after a career in college athletics? It goes downhill very quickly. Whereas I used to compete against nationally ranked UNC and UVA swim team - I now face 'standout' San Jose men and, representing Team beRecruited.com, find ways to embarassingly lose.

This week's Team beRecruited.com update:
* Team beRecruited.com Basketball falls to 1-1, losing to Crunch Time III
* Team beRecruited.com Softball drops third straight game

In similar news, the Red Sox lost to the Tampa Bay Devil Rays as Trot Nixon had an awful, bad-luck 10th inning. First, he's the go ahead run in bottom of the 10th and, while charging to third base, is hit by Olerud's line drive. Out. Sox don't score. Now 2 outs down in the bottom of the 10th with a man on first - Nixon tries to make a leaping catch at the wall (no chance at any point) and, being too close to the wall, has the ball bounce out of his reach by 10 feet. Game over.

Maybe Trot wants to join Team beRecruited.com softball.

Ricky Martin aka La Savior

I had to share this great post from www.defamer.com:

'Here’s the headline: “Ricky Martin Seeks End to Arab Stereotypes.” Our only explanation is that many Arabs find themselves in the position of being stereotyped as gay-seeming Latin singers; in that case, they couldn’t have a better advocate. Also: Congratulations to Martin for continuing to be alive. We were sure he’d died quietly a year and a half ago.'

Musings...

After watching the finale of the Red Sox / White Sox series today, I personally was able to justify the time I wasted creating www.trademillar.com and www.firesveum.com. Kevin Millar is so terrible - had it not been for his awful baserunning (again) this game would have been played much differently in the 8th and 9th innings. And although Dale Sveum didn't cause another loss - Francona can take some blame for this one. Why keep Cora in there again when Renteria is ready and able to come off the bench and drive in the tying runs?

I watched 10 minutes of Bubble Boy today - seems terrible - but there is a Rocky montage in it thats worthwhile and worthy enough to make me watch... for what thats worth.

Tonight my softball team goes for our first win. And our first run in two games - last week we lost 6-0, which in slow pitch softball is actually quite impressive.

Today, beRecruited.com launched Baseball-Recruiting.com and Athletic-Scholarship-Finder.com. Enjoy.

And finally - I saw March of the Penguins which was terrific. Really excellent movie that was stunningly filmed and infinitely interesting. How about that for alliteration?

Gossip Round Up

In all seriousness, thats Haley Joel Osment. Slightly creepy. I'm speechless.

All the rage in Hollywood: blinging out your tech gear. Baby Phat makes cell diamond cell phones and now Gucci wraps your iPod with the reasonably priced - just $235! - Guccissima iPod Holster. Considering its lack of functionality and that it costs more than an iPod mini, $235 seems like a bargain.

Versatile. Functional. And Reasonably Priced.

Friday Sports Wrap

John Garland pitched the Chicago White Sox to an 8-4 victory of the Red Sox. With the series tied at 1-1, Hernadez and Miller will take the mound. The weirdest news from the game: White Sox RF Jermaine Dye was out of the lineup a second straight day, recovering from infected insect bites on his leg...

The Baltimore Orioles on Saturday agreed to trade right-handed pitcher Sidney Ponson to San Diego for first baseman Phil Nevin. The deal now hinges on Nevin's decision to stay or go... Nevin must be furious - a straight up deal for the Pork Chop Ponson whose ERA is as inflated as his stomach?!

The NHL season is on... but who really cares? The most interesting part isn't the future season, its how the NHL remedies the many issues at hand in the short amount before the '05-'06 season starts: free agency, drafts, new rules, ticket sales, etc.

RyanSpoon.com - Coming Soon

Soon enough, RyanSpoon.com will exist. For now though, it is being housed at www.berecruited.com/sites/ryanspoon.htm.
